One tip for beginners trying their hand on water gardening is to choose a medium sized pool instead going all out on a bigger pool at their first try. This is because you can easily remove it if you do not like it and it is cheaper to do so than having a big pond.
Do make sure that if you are digging up your backyard to have it filled with water, add some liner at the side like you’re doing it for a small swimming pool. This way the water will no seep back into the soil after you’ve fill them up, you can easily get the liner from your local garden center.
After which, you simply add plants on top of it! A great plant to start off your water gardening is water lilies, this is because they float on the surface and makes for great display, not to mention that they have a variety of colors to choose from.
Water lilies are very beautiful and makes for a lovely water garden. One important thing you should know about them is that they are actually very delicate and can only thrive in warmer weathers, which made for a great summer garden display.
One possible drawback of having a water garden, especially in the warmer weather is the possibility that you might attract mosquitoes to breed in the water. Therefore equip yourself with this knowledge and actively seek them out.
Aside from water lilies, you can even consider other type of water plants, you can find some that does not float and they too will be beautiful to look at even though they’re submerged!
