Good if you like new age music
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I rated this a 4 only because I was hoping that the music would be solely piano, but find that several of the compositions sounded like there was synthesizer played in addition.

I like all the Relaxing Music. I already own all the rest that has been issued
A great collection if you don’t own all of them

“The Most Relaxing ________ in the World/Universe…Ever” was a great marketing idea, so how do you surpass that? How about the “Ultimate Most Relaxing ________ in the Universe?” What next? Maybe the “Quintessential Most Ultimate Most Relaxing…Forever.” If you will pardon the sarcasm, this is a pretty good compilation for the money.
You will find tracks from well know artists Jim Brickman, Suzzanne Cianni, Steven Halpern, and Kitaro. However, the real gems in this collection are the 11 rare tracks from little know pianists; Manabu Ohishi, Febian Reza Pane, Keiichi Uko, Kyoko Tabe, and Toshiyuki Watanabe. While you can find CDs from these artists they are expensive so this collection is actually a bargain.
The Ultimate Disappointing Moment of this CD is the almost 13 minutes of Halpern’s spacey electric piano droning “Traveling Among the Stars” (12:43) on disc one. To the acoustic piano purist this piece is completely out of character and will bore you to tears and could have been replaced with more of the rare tracks – it belongs on the Ultimate Meditation series.
Disc one is 56 minutes long and Disc two is 43 minutes each with only 10 tracks and that is surprisingly short for a compilation of this sort. One would have expected each disc to be at least 60 minutes. If you remove Halpern’s 13 minutes of droning electric piano and one more track this collection could have fit on a single CD. So don’t let the 2-CD description fool you into thinking you are getting a lot of music. Once again I have to say the rare tracks are the saving grace of this CD, without them it would have been just so so.

Music to Relax To
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
With a title like THE ULTIMATE MOST RELAXING NEW AGE PIANO MUSIC IN THE UNIVERSE, it’s hard not to be a bit skeptical. However, superlatives aside, this is a terrific collection of soothing and relaxing piano music. Some of new age’s biggest names are here, too–Suzanne Ciani, Steven Halpern, Jim Brickman and Kitaro perform half of this two-disc set’s twenty tracks. While most of these are solo piano pieces, Ciani performs with the Young Russia Orchestra on “Time Stops” and with an ensemble (including Paul McCandless of the group Oregon on oboe)on “Stream.” The music collected here is the perfect music to unwind to after a long day. RECOMMENDED [Running Time - Disc 1, 56:42; Disc 2, 46:32]
