Brainwave Entrainment: A New Method Of Meditation?

Gradually becoming one of the great new leaders in brain & mind technology is brainwave entrainment. Doctors in the fields of medical science, psychology, neurology, sound therapy, hypnotherapy, etc. are experiencing the effectiveness of brainwave entrainment in their work with their clients. Two of the more popular forms of brainwave entrainment are known as 1. binaural beats, and 2. isochronic tones. Those who have experienced the effectiveness of isochronic tones and binaural beats testify that the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of listening to binaural beats or isochronic tones are similar to the benefits one receives after years of meditation practice.

Binaural beats and isochronic are sound frequencies that you listen to, and they entrain your brain with a tremendously powerful impact on your thinking and life. By themselves they are not musical sounding. Rather they are heard as a constant pulsing or beating sound (or warbling sound in the case of binaural beats). It is this constant beating sound in the ears that causes the brain to become entrained.

There are other forms of brainwave entrainment such as the use of flashing light in light glasses which come with light and sound machine devices otherwise known as mind machines. It is a form of brainwave entrainment. But flashing light presents a danger to those who are either prone to epilepsy or wearing a pacemaker. Binaural beats and isochronic tones are safer to use.

Binaural beats and isochronic tones have a lot of popularity among the new age and self help crowd, but on the main the science is unheard of by the general populace. But this can rapidly change as brainwave entrainment gains new recognition as we progress further into the twenty-first century and people seek more and more inner peace of mind.

Let us look at how brainwave entrainment and meditation relate to one another. Scientifically speaking meditation basically alters ones brainwaves. Different brainwave states are associated with different benefits and experiences. For example when your mind is racing, stressed, unable to relax or be still, perhaps caught in emotional turmoil, arguing, hating, bitter, screaming, or confused, racing a zillion miles a second etc., you are probably plugged into a brainwave state at the beta or even gamma levels.

Even if we are generally a calm person we can still be at a beta level if we are unable to intellectually relax or take a mental break. If we feel we always need to be preoccupied with something we are probably living too much at the beta live, and in the long run this can potentially cause premature aging, stress, health problems, emotional issues, and so on. Healthy beta is ok. But our brain can be too beta wired which is not good.

Both meditation and brainwave entrainment help in the process of whole-brain functioning and balance. Both help bring the brain from an active beta level to alpha, theta, and even delta levels where huge strides are made as far as physical rejuvenation, emotional healing (unloading of the unconscious of wounded memories), mental clarity, and spiritual renewal ” an increase in intuitive capabilities, becoming more visionary, enlightened etc. Brainwave entrainment by means of binaural beats and isochronic tones is a shortcut to all this.

Over the centuries and even today many people use different methods in an attempt to enter a deep state of meditation. Some use breathing techniques. Some use chanting, others use dance, instruments, music, devotional exercises and so much more. All these are different methods used for basically entraining the brain and lowering the brainwave frequencies to a state of mind at the alpha, theta or delta levels. And each of these four brainwave levels are associated with different benefits.

Training the brain to enter different brainwave levels by means of listening to binaural beats or isochronic tones probably can be considered a new method of meditation since most people never heard of what I am writing about here. Brainwave entrainment is, in a way, meditation made easy and can even be considered as a shortcut path to meditation.

Just think about it: Your emotions are becoming more balanced, you are becoming a calmer, more likable person, you are experiencing on inner peace you did not know was possible in our day and age, you care less about what others think and perhaps you experience an improvement in your intelligence and stress becomes nonexistent etc. One would think you are an experienced zen monk who as achieved nirvana after many lifetimes of meditation practice. But all you did to get there is simply listen to your binaural beat or isochronic tone sessions regularly.

Fact is that you no more need to understand exactly how this process works than you need to know how the engines on an airplane work to get you from one destination to another. You just need to try it for yourself. Brainwave entrainment is super effective and fits into your daily routine very easily. Just twenty minutes to an hour a day listening to brainwave entrainment mp3s or cds you will begin to reap the benefits.

Maybe you are now curious to search more in depth into this subject. Or you maybe you want find a brainwave entrainment product to buy. In the area of brainwave tech in general there are some excellent companies who create high quality mp3 and cd brainwave sessions. Some are very expensive, others are less expensive but of the same quality (everyone has their reasons for the prices they choose for their products). You dont need to rush anything. Start small ” with a free sample ” or with a more affordable session or bundle of sessions that you can get very cheaply but are of the same quality and effectiveness as the most expensive programs.
